It’s been 14 days of 2017 already. Did you start a new years resolution? How is it going, and do you think you will succeed? I haven’t had made one in years, but in the middle of December I started thinking about what the next couple of years look like for me. What do I want? How am I going to achieve it, and is it even possible? So I set some goals for myself. Some short-term and some long-term. I really want to achieve them. But some of them seem so big, I am going to be praying hard.
The reason for this post is, I want to encourage you to continue whatever resolution you started. Most resolutions never make it past 3 months, but maybe this is the year it lasts all year for you. For me, I want this year to be about me. Sounds selfish, but if you know me, I don’t always put myself first. I am on the back burner. Not this year. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to turn into a selfish, entitled brat. But I’m going to focus on my needs and wants, and that’s okay. I’m going to learn to love me.
One of my goals is to learn to say no more. I over commit to things and spread myself too thin. I am afraid of hurting people’s feeling by saying no. I have worn myself down by over committing and people pleasing. Another goal is to go on a vacation with my husband. We have been married for 6 years and have never been on a vacation just the two of us, since our honeymoon. We have gone out of town for weekend trips, but I want to go on a longer vacation. I just want to live a little, and I’m excited about it!
My other goals are big. I really have no clue how to even go about them. So I am starting with prayer first. And if you believe in the power of prayer, please add me to the lists of things you pray about.
“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” -Martin Luther King Jr.
So far in the last 14 days, I have gotten my nails done, started a new diet, lost 3.6 pounds, decorated more of my house, and I think I may just dye my hair soon too. I’m just living it up! haha but really, I am just doing a little extra for myself and I think you should too. Do something for you.
I’ve made a free downloadable goal chart for all my readers. If you don’t have a resolution, or have any goals, set one. Start small. If you did start a resolution for 2017, or if you are in the process of achieving a goal, or if you need some prayer, comment below, or find the contact page on my blog. I would love to chat with you.
